She went running AGAIN?!

this was what i had for breakfast:

1/2 cup oats, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, lecithin granules, psyllium husk, chia seeds, homemade soymilk,  strawberries, raw acai powder and maple syrup (I LOVE OATS)
and unpictured:
  • lunch: 1 sandwich (we get sponsored lunch on mon + wed) + 1 egg + fruits
  • Jasmine green tea
  • 1 apple for snack
  • Organic soy chai
i was feeling really stressed and like i was hitting a brick wall with my presentation so i went for a run. yes, i actually WENT FOR A RUN to DESTRESS. you know, i might actually like running now. but i shall not speak too soon...

and because i felt so good about my run, i decided to have something yummy for dinner:

organic broccoli and egg quiche (on maize pastry) + mixed salad with flaxseed oil/balsamic vinegar dressing (from TOFWD. my fridge is stocked with stuff from this place!)
and ended it with a little bit of dessert:
1/3 slice of gluten-, dairy- and sugar-free carrot cake (also from TOFWD)
today's run:
distance: 7km on the road
time taken: 38minutes

i feel SO ready to charge on with my presentation now! :)

Santa Fun Run

Posted by Princess at 5:33 PM 0 comments
if you know me well enough, you would know that i hate running. in fact, i've never understood why they call them fun runs because to me... running is just NOT fun. i dislike running because i'm just not good at it... and i find it incredibly boring.

but if there's one thing i admire about runners... it would be their passion and how much they believe in it. runners tell me about the wind in their faces...about how it helps them destress. (but how come all i feel is pain?) AND i read all these blogs of people training hard for half-marathons and i'm like whuuutttt, i can't even do 2km properly. so i've always told myself that i'd give it a try... sometime. just to say that at least i've given it a go, you know? in fact, it's on my bucket (sort-of)list!

so here's the challenge... i'm going to do a 10K run in november. and what could be worse than putting myself through a run? it is to do it in a.................SANTA SUIT.

alright, i'll just pause here for you to take that last bit in.

ready?

ok.

back to santa suit. i know it's a craaazzzyy idea but i think it's going to be so fun and it's going to make an awesome picture. haha! i'm going to be doing it with a few others and because i'm such a lousy runner... i've decided that i have to START TRAINING already.

while there are lots of running groups out there for people to train together, i find running (and exercising in general) to be a very personal thing for me. sure, i go for group fitness classes...i do enjoy going to the gym with my friends but when i'm training, i'm in my own world. yes, i'm one of those who regards my workout time as a "me time". it's the time i get to zone out and tune everything out. i don't really enjoy talking or thinking DURING my workout - anything before and after is great. :)

also, i refuse to run with other people because i feel like 1) i'll bring them down (too slow! haha!) 2) i'm forced to run at an uncomfortable (read: too fast) speed in the beginning and then die halfway through due to bad pacing. well, why add on stress when it's stressful enough already?!

anyway, the run is all in the name of fun (har har), fitness and CHARITY. we're going to do a run in a santa suit in SUMMER - you got to sponsor us! but i'll come back to that another time when we get our act together.

long term goal: to just finish the whole 10K. i'm not fussed about timing because finishing would be an achievement on its own.

today's run:
distance: 4.3km on the road.
time taken: 23minutes.

Confessions of a chocoholic

Posted by Princess at 8:25 AM 0 comments
wow. where do i start?

*su is on a mission to get fit! while i have been quite successful, i'm still trying to lose a little bit more weight and maintain this lifestyle!

i decided to create a new blog to chronicle my healthy mission because i run the risk of cluttering my personal blog with too many food pictures, whinging about cravings and workout details. i've been keeping a food diary for a few months now and they say that a 'pictorial' food diary is much more effective (because you have to think twice about putting the food into your mouth) and i got inspired by some other blogs (see blogroll) to match my passion for blogging with this new mission.

plus! i'm a naturally obsessive person and i get SO caught up with my struggles sometimes (ask the sister) - i think i need an outlet!

this space still needs a bit of tweaking but...cheers to new beginnings nonetheless!

(i LOVE wordpress so...why am i at blogspot?! well, i found this really cute layout but i can't use it in wordpress. as simple as that! i'm more comfortable having my personal blog over at wordpress where it just feels more clean, neat and sharp but blogspot is more versatile in the layout aspect.)
